Makena Beach, also known as Big Beach, is a sprawling expanse of golden sand in South Maui, renowned for its powerful waves and dramatic coastal scenery. While offering ample space for relaxation and stunning views, especially at sunset, the strong shore break makes swimming unsuitable for beginners. Facilities are basic, with porta-potties but no showers. This duality of serene beauty and challenging waters creates a unique experience.
